An attack technique that secretly looks into network traffic or data to steal sensitive information
Setup: Alice's PC, Bob's bank server, and Eve's PC are on the same office network (LAN). Alice sends her login ID and password to Bob.
Normally it goes only to the recipient
The switch reads the recipient field (MAC address) on the envelope and sends the letter only down Bob's line. Nothing flows toward Eve's PC, so Eve has nothing to look at.
